Vaibhav ODI Future: Heroics or Disaster?

India A youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi returned to form with an attacking innings against Afghanistan A in the ongoing tri-series match at Dambulla.

After failing to make an impact against Sri Lanka A in the opening game, the 15 year old responded with a positive approach at the top of the order.

Opening the batting for India A, Vaibhav started aggressively from the second ball of his innings. He regularly found the boundary and put pressure on the Afghanistan bowlers during the powerplay.

Vaibhav scored 44 runs from just 22 balls, hitting nine fours. His innings came to an end while attempting a ramp shot, but he had already given India A a strong start.

His knock showed the fearless batting style that has made him one of the most talked about young players in Indian cricket.

While the innings highlighted his attacking ability, it also raised an important point about his development in ODI cricket.

Vaibhav’s aggressive intent can change games, but relying only on T20 style batting could become a concern in the long run.

As he gains experience, he will need to balance attack with patience and understand when to build an innings according to the situation.

Recently, Vaibhav was selected in India’s squads for the Ireland and England tours, along with the Asian Games.

With that selection, he became the youngest player ever picked for India’s senior team, surpassing the record previously held by Sachin Tendulkar.
