Virat Kohli could return to domestic cricket for Delhi again, with DDCA president Rohan Jaitley making it clear that the former India captain remains part of the association’s plans.
Speaking at the DDCA’s annual prize distribution ceremony, Rohan Jaitley was asked whether Virat Kohli could play domestic cricket for Delhi this season.
He said there was no doubt about the DDCA welcoming him because Delhi is Kohli’s home association.
Rohan Jaitley also praised Virat Kohli’s commitment to Delhi cricket and said the batter will play for the state whenever he is available.
However, his international commitments and workload will be considered before any domestic appearance.
Virat Kohli currently plays only ODI cricket for India. He is set to return to action in the three match ODI series against West Indies from September 27.
India will then travel to New Zealand for five ODIs in November before hosting Sri Lanka for three ODIs in December.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy is scheduled to begin in December, meaning Virat Kohli’s availability could depend on the timing of India’s ODI schedule and his workload.
Virat Kohli returned to domestic cricket for Delhi in 2025 after a gap of 13 years.
He played a Ranji Trophy match before announcing his retirement from Test cricket. Later that year, he also played two matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Now, Rohan Jaitley has made it clear that the DDCA would welcome another domestic appearance from Virat Kohli. The big question is whether the former India captain will once again turn out for Delhi when he gets the opportunity.
