Former India pacer Sreesanth has urged selectors to consider Virat Kohli for India’s squad at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He believes Kohli’s experience and leadership could strengthen the team when cricket returns to the Olympic stage.
Sreesanth also expressed excitement about the possibility of seeing Kohli play alongside young talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He feels that the combination of experienced campaigners and emerging stars could create a balanced and competitive Indian side.
Praising Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Sreesanth highlighted the youngster’s impressive performances and growing reputation in Indian cricket. After finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer, Sooryavanshi has quickly become one of the most talked-about young players in the country.
The former World Cup winner believes that blending youth with experience could improve India’s chances of winning an Olympic gold medal. He also suggested that Sooryavanshi could become a major attraction when cricket makes its long-awaited return to the Olympics.
However, Virat Kohli’s return to the T20I setup appears unlikely at this stage. Kohli retired from T20 Internationals after India’s World Cup 2024 triumph, and there has been no indication that he intends to reconsider that decision.
While Sreesanth’s remarks have sparked discussions among cricket fans, many view them as optimistic rather than realistic. For now, attention remains on whether young stars like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi can play a leading role in India’s Olympic campaign in 2028.
