Virat Kohli has taken a major business step by selling his sports brand One8 to Agilitas and investing Rs 40 crore in the company. The move shows his interest in sportswear not only as a face but as a long term stakeholder.
Deal Details and Kohli’s Role
Agilitas CEO Abhishek Ganguly confirmed that the deal includes Kohli selling One8 and making a personal investment. His stake will be in the mid single digit range. The agreement is exclusive, so Kohli will not promote any other sports brand.
Agilitas Expands With New Acquisitions
For Agilitas, One8 is its second major acquisition after Mochiko Shoes. Mochiko manufactures footwear for many well known global brands. The company sees this move as a strong step toward building a wider sportswear ecosystem.
Why Kohli Chose Agilitas Over Puma
This development comes after Kohli decided not to renew his Puma contract, which had reached nearly Rs 300 crore. His earlier deal began in 2017 and was worth Rs 110 crore. Instead of extending it, he chose to partner with Agilitas.
Ganguly’s Role in the New Partnership
Ganguly had earlier brought Kohli to Puma. He once again played a key role in forming this new association. Kohli said online that he had two choices stay with One8 alone or join the larger vision of Agilitas.
Kohli’s Long Term Vision
Kohli chose the bigger plan, showing his focus on long term growth rather than short term gains. The move gives him an active role in a rising company and boosts the market presence of Agilitas.
New Era of Athlete Investments
This decision marks a new phase where athletes invest in businesses beyond simple endorsements. Kohli’s involvement strengthens the brand and sets an example for future sports partnerships.
