Recently, Kamal Haasan, at a promotional event, stated that people would forget Nayagan after Thug Life, expressing his supreme confidence that Thug Life would be a sure-shot blockbuster and widely celebrated by audiences.

However, some netizens on social media are commenting that the Thug Life team is creating over-expectations for the movie through its promotional events, which might backfire if the film doesn’t meet those expectations.

They cited Kanguva as an example, noting that its team similarly generated high expectations, claiming it would collect over ₹2000 crores and become Kollywood’s first true pan-Indian hit. However, Kanguva ended up as a major disaster and became the subject of widespread trolling after its release.

Consequently, Kamal Haasan fans are a bit apprehensive about what might happen if Thug Life fails, fearing that Kamal Haasan’s overly confident statements at promotional events could turn into meme templates.

At the same time, some have pointed out that before Indian 2, Kamal Haasan hinted it might not do well—stating at an event that he signed Indian 2 primarily for Indian 3. This time, however, he appears supremely confident about Thug Life, leading to hopes that it will become a blockbuster success.
