“Stop Trying to Trigger Me”: Chinmayi Lashes Out

Singer Chinmayi’s sharp reply to a reporter during her recent interaction with the press has taken over social media, quickly going viral. The exchange unfolded when the reporter asked her opinion on Vairamuthu’s remarks criticising the National Awards for not recognising films like Aadujeevitham and Ayothi.

Chinmayi responded by questioning the relevance of the query, saying there was no point in asking her about it. She pointed out that the media often tries to provoke her into reacting on this subject. She added that she is still dealing with the case related to the ban imposed on her, making it unnecessary to seek her opinion on Vairamuthu’s statement.

Her frustration stemmed from the fact that she was banned from singing in Kollywood after she spoke out during the Me Too movement against veteran lyricist Vairamuthu. Since then, whenever she faces the press, questions about him frequently surface, which she feels are attempts to trigger her.

Following the viral clip of her firm stand, many netizens have rallied behind Chinmayi, praising her for speaking up and calling it a bold move that sets a strong example.
