Vijay’s TVK Stampede Spoiled Dhanush’s Idli Party?

After the success of Kuberaa, Dhanush is back with his fourth directorial, Idli Kadai, releasing worldwide on October 1. Despite heavy promotions, the film’s pre-bookings are surprisingly weak, raising concerns ahead of its opening.

In Tamil Nadu, bookings have so far grossed only Rs 2 crore, while BookMyShow shows just around 1,000 tickets sold per hour. Social media users note that this is one of Dhanush’s best-promoted films in recent times, yet audiences seem hesitant and are waiting for word of mouth.

Some believe the film’s buzz was overshadowed by the Karur stampede incident during Vijay’s TVK Party rally, which has dominated public attention in Tamil Nadu. They argue that the tragedy stalled momentum for Idli Kadai promotions.

Trade experts, however, remain cautiously optimistic. They say that with a five-day long weekend and family-drama appeal, strong word of mouth could still turn things around. The real test will be whether Idli Kadai can overcome its slow start and prove itself at the box office.
