Dhanush Vs Nayanthara: Court’s Shocking Verdict

Today, the Madras High Court dismissed the plea filed by the OTT platform Netflix to dismiss Dhanush’s lawsuit against Nayanthara and Netflix for using Naanum Rowdy Dhan BTS footage in Nayanthara’s marriage documentary.

The Dhanush and Nayanthara controversy has been one of the hot topics in Kollywood for the past few months after Nayanthara posted an open letter criticizing Dhanush, who is also the producer of Naanum Rowdy Dhan, for not granting NOC to use its BTS clips in her wedding documentary.

Even after Dhanush sent a legal notice to Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, demanding that they either delete the clips or pay the copyright fee for using the 8-second BTS footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhan in the trailer, the team refused to delete it. As a result, Dhanush filed a case against Nayanthara and Netflix.

Following the first hearing a few days ago, Netflix’s investment company, Los Gatos Production Services India LLP, filed a plea to dismiss the case in the Madras High Court.

Today, Justice Abdul Quddhose dismissed the plea filed by Netflix and also rejected another application from Los Gatos Production Services India LLP, which had requested that the case be transferred to Mumbai, as Dhanush filed the lawsuit in Chennai.

It seems that Dhanush is now gaining the upper hand in the copyright claim issue, and the next hearing regarding the copyright claim is scheduled for February 5th. Let’s see how the case progresses after the next hearing.
