Dhanush’s Next in Danger: Director’s Curse?

Dhanush is currently busy shooting two projects: the Bollywood movie Tere Ishq Mein under Anand L Rai’s direction and Idly Kadai, which he is directing himself.

At the same time, his pan-Indian movie Kubera, directed by Sekhar Kammula, is all set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 20th.

Apart from these three movies, Dhanush has also announced his next project with Amaran director Rajkumar Periyasamy, tentatively titled D55.

For the past few years, a strange pattern has emerged: whenever Dhanush collaborates with a blockbuster director, the film tends to underperform.

Karthik Subbaraj, who delivered a big hit with Petta starring Rajinikanth, followed it up with Jagame Thandhiram, which bombed despite high expectations.

Similarly, Gautham Vasudev Menon, after Yennai Arindhaal, delivered a misfire with Enai Noki Paayum Thota. Another example is Karthick Naren, who impressed with Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru but later made the disastrous Maaran with Dhanush.

So now, Dhanush fans are worried about whether Rajkumar Periyasamy’s movie with Dhanush will also end up as a failure.

At the same time, some people believe that Rajkumar Periyasamy will put an end to this myth and deliver a blockbuster success.

Let us see how this project shapes up and whether it becomes a blockbuster success after its release.
