Rajinikanth’s latest outing, Vettaiyan, has created interest due to the combination of the hero and director. Vettaiyan comes from a director known for the memorable film Jai Bhim.
The trailer hasn’t generated much excitement, but since it’s directed by T. J. Gnanavel, there is good hype in the Tamil markets.
When it comes to U.S. pre-sales, the Tamil version of Vettaiyan is registering impressive numbers with just two days left before its premiere.
Total pre-sales for Vettaiyan in North America have surpassed $625,000 from 352 theaters across the U.S. and Canada, with over 17,500 tickets sold so far.
However, when it comes to the Telugu version’s U.S. pre-sales, the number is quite low. As of now, it is below $30K, and only positive buzz will improve this figure, as there is not much visibility for this title.
In terms of the highest-grossing states in America, Vettaiyan ranks top in Texas, California, Washington, New Jersey, and North Carolina.
Vettaiyan is sure to surpass $1 million with its premiere, and the positive buzz will only drive sales upward from here.
