Rajnikanth’s Jailer 2: Will Makers Keep Their Promise?

Superstar Rajinikanth is currently working on Jailer 2 with director Nelson Dilipkumar. The first film was a massive blockbuster and collected more than Rs. 600 crores worldwide. Many expected that films like Kanguva and Coolie would become Tamil industry’s first 1000-crore film, but they failed. Fans strongly believe Jailer 2 has the potential to achieve that milestone. The team has been shooting in Chennai, Goa, and a few other locations.

Rajinikanth recently said the movie would release in June. The production team has not confirmed this officially and that created some confusion. The makers already released a video announcing that the Jailer 2 teaser would arrive on December 12 as Rajinikanth’s birthday treat. Fans are now waiting to see if the team will stick to that date. Inside reports say composer Anirudh Ravichander is already working on the teaser cut.

Rajinikanth’s previous film Coolie did not meet expectations. Even then expectations for Jailer 2 remain high. Trade circles expect Nelson to deliver what Lokesh could not. Nelson is working confidently despite the tremendous pressure. He promised earlier that the sequel would exceed expectations. The star cast includes talented artists like SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ramya Krishna, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa. Their combination scenes with Rajinikanth are being shot now. Reports say Rajinikanth has almost completed his portions.

If everything goes smoothly, Rajinikanth may start his next film early next year after completing Jailer 2. For now, all eyes are on the teaser update. Fans want to see whether the team will follow through on the December 12 plan.
