Karthik Subbaraj is currently promoting his recently released film Dorothy through interviews and by participating in events. In one such interview, he shared an exciting update about his next project, and it is now going viral on social media.

While speaking about his views on how he felt when his movies were released directly on OTT instead of in theatres, Karthik Subbaraj stated that they wanted Mahaan to have a theatrical release and had imagined how Dhruv’s entry as an interval block would be celebrated by audiences. However, it was unfortunately released directly on OTT.

Consequently, that is why he now has a dream to make Mahaan 2 and release it directly in theatres. Furthermore, he mentioned that he is currently making a film for Netflix and it is going to be a direct OTT film based on Puliyattam. He also revealed that this film is based on a popular novel.

Even though Karthik Subbaraj did not reveal much about the film or who is in the cast and crew, sources suggest that Atharvaa, Prabhu Deva and Upendra are playing important roles in the film and that the first schedule has already been completed.

In response to Karthik Subbaraj’s revelation about his dream to make a sequel to Mahaan, many social media users feel that Mahaan is one of the most underrated films in Kollywood and that Karthik Subbaraj should definitely make a sequel to it.

On the other hand, a few people feel that Mahaan is just an average film and instead of wasting money by making a sequel to a failed film, Karthik Subbaraj should concentrate on different ideas.

However, it seems that Karthik Subbaraj is very interested in starting a sequel to Mahaan. Hence, it remains to be seen whether Mahaan 2 will happen in the future and if it happens, how it will take shape.
