Mandaadi opens to mixed audience talk
The Kollywood film Mandaadi starring Soori and Suhas in lead roles and directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, was released in theatres today and is receiving mixed responses from audiences and critics.
Since actor Soori has returned with this film after the commercial success of Maaman and because Mandaadi has been projected as the first sea-based sports action drama, it generated huge expectations among the audience.
However, it seems Mandaadi didn’t satisfy those expectations. Viewers, after watching the film, have suggested that even though the plot was fresh and the film is technically sound, it ended up as an average film due to a poor screenplay.
They note that while the first half of Mandaadi was good, the second half is the major letdown and the flashback portions in the second half terribly affected the gripping narration.
Additionally, as Mandaadi marks the debut of Suhas in Kollywood, viewers noted his performance by responding that although he has a very strong character and delivered a solid performance, his efforts were wasted because the film as a whole didn’t turn out well.
Some Telugu audiences feel that Suhas should be more careful while choosing his scripts, suggesting that he needs to select not only good roles but also strong scripts and directors.
Ultimately, with mixed reviews from the audience, it remains to be seen how Mandaadi will perform at the box office and whether it manages to at least cross the break-even mark in its final run.
