Mind Bending Thriller: Treat For OTT Audience?

The latest Tamil thriller Black is a high-concept sci-fi film exploring parallel realities.

While it has a slow start, the narrative eventually grabs attention until the end. The movie is a well-crafted time loop/time travel story, featuring an engaging first half and a decent second half. It stands out for its strong technical aspects, especially in editing and cinematography.

Although the last 15 minutes could have been improved, fans of time loop or time travel films will likely find it satisfying.

Inspired by the 2013 film Coherence, Black presents thought-provoking ideas and aims to be a mind-bender.

It is receiving a decent response from theatrical audiences and is expected to appeal even more to viewers on OTT platforms.

While it might have an average run in theaters, audiences from other languages—such as Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi—are likely to appreciate it more once it streams online, as this genre tends to perform well after the digital release.

Based on initial reviews, Black seems to be a good watch for thriller enthusiasts across the country.

The OTT audience will embrace it more warmly on streaming platforms. Films like this typically cater better to OTT viewers than to those in theaters.

Rangam fame Jiiva appears to be making a commendable comeback with Black following a series of flops.
