Text messages and emails offering part time jobs have become a common scene these days. However, such lucrative offers often land you in trouble and that’s what happened with this techie from Bangalore. Usually the scammers target innocents who easily fall prey to these offers being in need. But this incident targeted a techie from Bangalore who lost millions in hope of a better return.
The scammers approached the victim at Telegram, a famous communication app. The scammers offered him part time jobs upon completion of which he was promised lucrative payment. But the catch was that he was made to make a small investment in order to receive the payment.
The man deposited ₹10,000 and later he was informed that his returns would be ₹20 lakh. But when he tried to withdraw the money, the scammers said that an audit at the company had blocked the withdrawal feature. He was told to deposit ₹10 lakh rupees further.
He managed to arrange the money and sent it to the scammers. But this continued and he was duped of ₹61.5 lakh. By the time he realized he was getting scammed, it was quite late. An FIR has been registered and the police are investigating the case.
