However this work used characters from the existing book ‘A Song Of Ice And Fire’. This has been deemed as ‘infringing’ and ‘unauthorized’ by the lawsuit.
The CEO of Authors guild said that theft like this needs to be prevented otherwise it will destroy ‘incredible literary culture’. The authors are demanding to have full control over how their work is used and accessed by generative AI companies. The authors are not paid anything when their work is used by these companies to generate desired results no matter how many times it accesses copyrighted work. The lawsuit would be a key to formulating new regulations around the issue.
