UK School Appoints AI As Headteacher

People who were outside the creative circle of the job used to feel absolutely safe and secure from AI, as it didn’t do anything more than writing articles, emails, and generating images. But those days are gone, and now, humans, instead of coding AI, are relying on it for making decisions.

In the future, humans have to coexist with Artificial Intelligence, and in terms of learning medical science, we are progressing at an undetected rate. But this time, a British school appoints Abigail Bailey as the Headteacher. Now, for your information, that’s the name of an AI.

According to a report, Tom Rogerson, the headmaster of Cottesmore, is using a robot to seek guidance on a variety of matters. These range from providing support to his colleagues to assisting students with ADHD and even drafting school policies.

This technology operates similarly to ChatGPT, an online AI service where users type questions and receive responses generated by the chatbot’s algorithms.

Rogerson also emphasized that the AI principal is well-versed in machine learning and educational management, capable of analyzing extensive data. He finds comfort in having this resource available, considering it a reassuring presence to aid in decision-making.

While human counsel is still essential, the AI’s quick and knowledgeable assistance is particularly valuable in the sometimes solitary role of a school leader.

Now, as we are moving towards a more AI-oriented future, boycotting it will never be an option, as it can be chosen for a lot of critical tasks. However, completely relying on it from a moral, ethical, and decision-making standpoint sounds completely absurd. Also, as Cottesmore is a place for small kids (four to thirteen), making them believe in the decisions of AI does sound like a concept from ‘Brave New World,’ that’s for sure.
