Air Canada has upgraded its economy class service by offering free snacks, beer, and wine across its entire network. The change, effective from October 1, 2025, covers Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express flights, including routes to Mexico and the Caribbean.
Complimentary Snacks on All Flights
The free snack range includes Canadian-made products such as MadeGood Mornings Cinnamon Bun Oat Bars on morning flights, TWIGZ Craft Pretzels, and Leclerc Celebration Cookies. On Toronto-Billy Bishop flights after 10:30 a.m., passengers also get Greenhouse Ginger Defence Wellness Shots.
Expanded Bistro Menu
Alongside free items, the buy-on-board Bistro menu has been expanded. New options include Summer Fresh Hummus with Crackers, Quaker Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal Cups, and Smarties. The mix caters to varied dietary preferences and offers passengers more choice.
Beer, Wine and More
The drinks selection features craft beers like Hop Valley and Creemore Springs, Canadian favourites such as Molson Canadian and Coors Light, and two French wines by Paul Mas. Air Canada now also serves Heineken 0.0 for free, becoming the only North American airline to offer non-alcoholic beer inflight. Spirits remain available for purchase.
Focus on Passenger Experience
The move follows a successful summer trial and is part of Air Canada’s broader effort to improve customer satisfaction. By offering free snacks and drinks, the airline aims to provide more value to leisure travellers while standing out in a competitive industry.
Pressure on Competitors
With local brands and diverse food options, Air Canada has raised expectations for economy class service. The strategy puts pressure on other North American carriers to rethink their approach and match these upgraded standards.
