However, such criticism may be missing the point. Targeting a public figure for receiving a kind gesture overlooks context. Vir Das has previously called out Air India’s service flaws, including poor wheelchair support, while also recognizing the airline staff’s efforts during tragic events.

Misplaced Outrage Clouds Real Airline Issues
Labeling a simple thank-you card as class bias is a distraction from genuine concerns. Air India should absolutely be held accountable for poor services, hygiene issues, or unfair treatment of economy-class passengers. But criticizing a rare moment of appreciation misplaces blame.

Empathy for airline staff and acknowledging occasional positives doesn’t erase systemic flaws. The focus should remain on improving service for all, not vilifying celebrities over symbolic gestures. Calling out inequities is valid—but it should be done with clarity and proper direction.
