Platinum Passenger Slams AA: Year-Long Nightmare

Imagine being a frequent business traveller and feeling frustrated every time you fly. That is exactly what happened to one Platinum Member of American Airlines, who described a series of delays, cancellations, and baggage issues.

Frequent Cancellations and Delays

The traveller had already flown 65,000 miles this year. Out of about 50 flights, five were cancelled completely. Another 28 flights were delayed by more than an hour, and four had delays stretching over three hours.

Missed Connections and Airport Stays

The delays forced the passenger to miss several connecting flights. On three occasions, they even had to spend the night at the Hyatt Hotel inside the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, adding further stress and cost to their trips.

Damaged and Lost Baggage

Baggage problems also added to the frustration. Twice, the traveller received damaged luggage, and in one instance, their luggage was lost. These repeated issues left them questioning the airline’s reliability.

Comparing With Delta Airlines

The traveller pointed out that they had flown Delta eight times this year. None of those flights were delayed. This comparison highlighted the difference in performance and added weight to their disappointment with American Airlines.

Reliability Over Perks

According to the traveller, perks like free checked bags and complimentary upgrades to first class do not make up for poor service. They stressed that consistent delays and cancellations outweigh the value of such benefits.

Growing Concerns Among Flyers

Some people may dismiss this as bad luck. However, the statistics show a wider issue. The traveller’s experience reflects what many frequent fliers feel today: American Airlines’ reliability has declined, making it harder for passengers to trust the airline.
