A frequent flyer says they had their “worst experience yet” with American Airlines, after being denied boarding despite having checked in well in advance.
Delayed Flight, Denied Bag
The traveler’s flight was scheduled for 11:59 p.m. but delayed by 20 minutes. Even so, airline staff reportedly enforced the baggage cutoff using the original time. The passenger said they reached the counter just three minutes late, but the agent refused to check the bag and allegedly behaved rudely.
Reservation Canceled at Counter
Despite checking in 12 hours earlier and holding valid boarding passes, the passenger claimed the baggage agent canceled their reservation. At the gate, they were told their check-in was invalid. Other travelers also faced problems at the counter.
Switched to Delta, Frustration Grows
Ultimately, the passenger was denied boarding, received a flight credit, and rebooked on Delta. They said American Airlines’ service has declined since the pandemic and praised Delta as more reliable.
Frequent flyers argue incidents like this show why American Airlines is losing trust: inconsistent policies and poor handling at the counter leave customers stranded.
