Delta Flight Scandal: Passenger’s Food Poisoned?

A Delta Air Lines first-class passenger has alleged that he was poisoned by a toxic weed while flying from Chicago to Seattle on October 21, 2025. He claimed that his Southwest Harvest Salad contained black nightshade (Solanum nigrum), a poisonous plant known to cause nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain.

The passenger said he noticed something unusual after eating part of the meal and soon began feeling sick during the flight. On landing at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, he was met by paramedics for immediate medical attention.

Dispute Over Evidence

According to the passenger, he kept a stalk of the toxic plant to show medical staff. However, the lead flight attendant allegedly confiscated it, claiming it was “Delta’s property.” The crew also refused to return the sample or hand it over to the paramedics.

Delta Responds to Allegation

Delta Air Lines has acknowledged the complaint and confirmed that an internal investigation is underway. The passenger, however, described the airline’s initial response as dismissive and lacking urgency.

Food Safety Concerns

If proven true, the incident could raise serious questions about in-flight food safety and how airlines handle passenger complaints and evidence during emergencies.
