$100K to 10 LPA: Massive Pay Cut for H1B Techies?

Coming back from the US to India with a huge salary cut is a bitter pill to swallow for NRI techies. Going from $100k to 10 LPA feels like a slap in the face but this is the harsh reality for many Indian H1B forced to return home.

Techies online claim Indian firms don’t care about your US paycheck or skills. They base salaries on local standards or your previous Indian salary which is frustrating and unfair.

There are still techies who quit immediately after a lowball offer of 8 LPA, only to land 17 LPA elsewhere by just switching jobs. But in a highly skilled and competitive job market, it is not possible for everyone.

Social media users say, 10 LPA won’t cut it in metro cities and are already finding answers about how to cope with this massive pay cut.

Senior techies with years of experience suggest that you should always know your worth and switch aggressively. Fight to get paid what you deserve. India’s tech market can be brutal, but it’s not impossible.
