11-Year-Old Boy Shot by Police: Haunting Prayers Saved

Aderrien Murry, an 11-year-old boy from Mississippi who called 911 for help and was shot in the chest by a police officer, shared his harrowing story and the times he thought would be his last. Aderrien disclosed in an interview with CNN that while his mother applied pressure to the wound, he began praying and singing the gospel song “No Weapon Formed Against Me Shall Prosper.” Although Aderrien is convinced that his prayers saved his life, he still struggles with the nagging thoughts of what could have been.

Notwithstanding almost ten days passing since the episode, Aderrien keeps on encountering torment in his body, trouble breathing, and impediments in proactive tasks. Notwithstanding, he recognizes that he is alive due to the finesse of God, solidly accepting that there is an arrangement for his life, regardless of whether he knows anything about it as of now.

Greg Capers, an officer with the Indianola Police Department, responded to a domestic disturbance call at Aderrien’s house when the shooting occurred. When the police arrived, his mother reiterated the child’s statement to the operator that the man in question did not have a gun. However, Aderrien was shot as he complied with police orders and left the house.

As he suffered from a collapsed lung, rib fractures, and a lacerated liver, Aderrien underwent medical procedures, including the insertion of a chest tube and ventilation support. While he has since been released from the medical clinic, the physical and profound scars remain.

The incident was condemned by Carlos Moore, the attorney for Aderrien and his mother, who criticized the excessive use of force against an unarmed 11-year-old who had followed the officer’s orders. The family has recorded a $5 million claim in government court, looking for equity for the over-the-top power, carelessness, crazy danger, common threatening behavior, and other assorted offenses.
