America Follows India’s NEP For Indian Students

The New Education Policy(NEP),2020, which has been under some form of controversy ever since its implementation has received an external validation. This comes all the way from the USA where American Universities are going to follow the NEP for Indian students. The step can be seen as a successful reception of the policy at the global stage.

Interestingly, the NEP had been criticized earlier for ‘americanizing’ the Indian school system. The USA is a top choice destination for students leaving the country for higher education. Most of these students go to the US for their master’s degree in engineering or science. The course is designed to help such students.

The course would offer a one year master’s program in the discipline of STEM( science, technology, engineering and math). A lot of these students who leave the country wish to settle in America for a better life prospect. The program could help them realize this dream as it allows students to stay in the US for a period of three years in which they can gain work experience.

The implementation of this program is not far from reality. As many as 20 American and 15 Indian universities are already in talk and want to capitalize the opportunity. The first batch of the program would commence from the fall semester of 2024.
