B-2 Visa Rejected in a Minute Over Son’s F-1 Error?

An elderly Indian couple recently applied for a B2 tourist visa to meet their son in the US only to get rejected in 30 seconds.

Taking to social media, a post explained their experience from the Mumbai consulate. They were hoping to get the visitor visa for themself, but the officer was more worried about their son’s expired student visa.

There were no questions about jobs, property, or family in India. Just one vague reference to their son’s old F-1 visa followed by a swift rejection under Section 214(b).

Now, the family is left wondering if it was their student’s honest mistake that denied them the visa. His F-1 visa stamp had expired, but that doesn’t even mean he overstayed. Yet that one detail was enough to ruin their application.

The brutal part is that they weren’t even allowed to explain their case. The visa officer’s rude rejection in just 30 seconds has left them more hopeless and heartbroken, especially since they had flown over to Mumbai for their interview.

Considering the current political climate, most users seem to believe that the visa officers are only there to reject your visas, and it is the applicant’s job to make them change their opinion. It might sound harsh, but that is the reality for many.
