Biggest Hindu Temple Overseas In New Jersey

In an interesting development for Indians living in the USA, New Jersey is turning home to the biggest Hindu temple outside of India. This plush Hindu temple is set to open on the 8th of October.

Incidentally, this temple had commenced construction at Robbinsville, New Jersey in 2011 and after 12 long years, it is set to be open to the public.

The temple has been named Akshardham and it is spread in a whopping 183 acres. This will be a historic place of worship for the Hindu community in all of the US.

The temple will be home to 10,000 idols and sculptures, and it will have one Garbha Gudi, 12 Upalayas, and 9 Sikharas.

There is a well named Brahmakhund which will have sacred waters from 300 rivers. Over the course of last decade, lakhs of volunteers are said to have supported the construction of the temple, said BAPS Swaminarayan company representative Akshar Vatsaldas.
