Chandu from Kurnool Dies by Suicide in U.S. Over Financial Stress

Chandu was 26. Like many young students, he came to the United States with hope, ambition, and a quiet determination to build a better future.

He was from Kurnool, and Chicago became his new world. A new country, new responsibilities, and big dreams to chase. On the outside, it may have looked like another story of an Indian student trying to make it abroad. But behind that, there was a struggle that kept growing.

The pressure of finances slowly took over. Tuition, living expenses, and the constant worry about money can weigh heavily, especially when there is no strong support system nearby. For Chandu, that burden became too much to carry.

He died by suicide.

Now, his family is dealing with a loss that no parent should ever face. Along with the grief, they are also staring at a harsh reality. Bringing him back home from the U.S. to India will cost around $25,000. Funeral services, paperwork, transportation, everything adds up. It is an amount they simply cannot afford.

That is not all. Chandu also leaves behind a significant education loan. What was once taken with hope for a better future has now become a heavy burden on his parents, who are not financially stable.

A young life, full of plans, cut short. A family left with pain, memories, and a financial strain they never expected.

Stories like Chandu’s are not just about numbers or headlines. They are about the silent struggles many students carry, far away from home, trying to hold everything together until they cannot anymore.
