One would have thought that having an Indian American in the race for the presidential election would make it easy for the community to decide where to vote but there’s something unexpected happening in the United States. Despite the attempts made by Kamala Harris to lure the Indian American community, they are more likely to vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
Although on the surface it might look shocking, anyone who’s been following US politics would not be surprised at all. Donald Trump has promised to offer tax reforms which are lucrative for the upper middle class and the well off. The Indian Americans are among the highest tax paying groups in the US.
Another factor that might be responsible for the overwhelming support of Trump from the community is the polar viewpoints of both the candidates. Trump being on the conservative side shares more beliefs in common with the Indian Americans.
Many believe that the vote of the community is split and it is just as divided as the whole nation which has never happened before. Some new polls suggest that Harris might have taken a small lead over Trump but it’s too early to say if the lead or deficit will be maintained.
