$22,000 Wasted? EB-2 Applicant Speaks Out

An EB-2 NIW applicant took to Reddit recently to warn others about SmartImmigrant.com. The company, founded by Saiman Shetty, has allegedly delayed the applicant’s filing by multiple months.

Their first attorney held the applicant’s case for 45 days before leaving. This lead to the delays, and a reassignment to a different team.

The company also provided no updates on their case. This forced the applicant to chase USCIS himself for follow-ups.

The applicant’s own follow-ups revealed an error in the company’s filing of his application. He had to then bring the error to the company’s attention, and push for a refiling.

This entire process lost the applicant several months. They had originally wanted their petition filed in February 2026 to align with an H-1B immigration timeline.

However, the delays led to the filing eventually being filed in June 2026. Even then, it was filed with errors in it.

The applicant now feels that they wasted their $22,000. Even after paying for professional assistance, it was him who had to follow up with USCIS to find out what happened.

The $22,000 was not disposable money for the applicant. It represented his life savings, and a chance at immigration and a better life.

The applicant has urged others considering Saiman Shetty’s SmartImmigrant.com to research properly. Experts have stated that self filing and hiring genuine lawyers is the safest path for applicants.
