F-1 Visa Nightmare: Only 2 Approvals a Day?

Getting admitted to a good US university is just half the battle. It is only when you get past the dreaded F1 visa interview that you get closer to your American dream.

One Indian student, admitted to North Carolina State University (NCSU) for a Master’s in Computer Engineering, faced a quick 214(b) rejection in Hyderabad.

The visa officer grilled him with questions, interrupted repeatedly, and didn’t buy his story about the course offering a “unique blend” of hardware and software. When he mentioned an education loan and parental support, the officer was already holding the refusal form.

According to some people, a visa officer’s job is to catch anything that sounds rehearsed, fake, or consultant-scripted. Saying phrases like “unique blend” or giving textbook answers about why you chose the university sets off red flags.

One comment from a rejected student in Hyderabad said only 2 out of dozens got approved, and those had scholarships. The rest, as per them, got rejected.

That’s the harsh reality. Every day, a new horror story from F-1 visa interviews bites the dust to remind everyone of this brutal, rigged system.

Be real, be confident, and focus on your story; that’s the best you can do. The American dream is only getting harder for Indian aspirants.
