H-1B Layoff: India Return Better than B2 Gamble?

Weighing in his options, the techie is caught between applying for a B-2 tourist visa to extend his stay or returning to India before his savings vanish. And this simple dilemma has sparked a fierce debate online.

Many NRIs advise him not to don’t waste time as the B-2 route sounds good on paper, but it’s painfully slow and doesn’t guarantee anything. While you wait months for the application to process, you burn through rent, insurance, and groceries, without income.

Worse, if you still don’t find a job, you’re forced to return anyway, but with even less money and peace of mind.
