H-1B Second Interview Panic: Visa Approval Reversed?

An H-1B applicant has shared a confusing experience after receiving verbal approval at the US Embassy in Singapore. Despite being told the visa was approved, the situation changed within days. The sudden update has caused panic.

The interview took place on February 13. Soon after, the embassy remained closed for holidays from February 16 to 18. Processing resumed on February 19, when the online status showed Administrative Processing.

However, the very next day, the status changed to Refused. The applicant also received an email asking them to appear for another interview on February 23. This unexpected development created uncertainty.

During the initial interview, the applicant was given a yellow 221(g) slip marked as no action required. Very few work related questions were asked. At that time, everything appeared routine.

The applicant believes that stricter screening measures may be playing a role. Recent policies have reportedly increased scrutiny, including detailed social media checks. As a result, immediate approvals are becoming less common.

The sudden refusal has left the applicant anxious. They claim to have a clean record with no past issues. Being called for a second interview after verbal approval feels unusual and stressful.
