No Exceptions to Alliance Discipline in Local Polls: Chandrababu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that alliance discipline must be followed without exceptions during the upcoming local body elections.

Addressing TDP leaders through a teleconference on Monday, October 26, Chandrababu directed party workers to coordinate closely with Jana Sena and BJP at the grassroots level. He said the three parties must work together irrespective of which alliance partner has been allotted a particular seat.

Chandrababu asked leaders to set aside differences over candidate selection and ensure that the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance functions as a united front in every municipality, ward and local body constituency.

He acknowledged that some aspirants had missed out on tickets due to seat-sharing arrangements, reservations and social considerations. He assured them that their contributions would be recognised through nominated positions.

The Chief Minister also instructed party leaders to intensify the ‘Cheppam-Chestunnam’ campaign and explain the government’s welfare schemes, development initiatives and implementation of promises made during the 2024 elections.

Referring to the previous YSRCP government, Chandrababu criticised YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s political approach and accused him of prioritising personal interests over the state’s development. These remarks were political allegations made by the TDP chief.

Chandrababu reminded party workers that YSRCP had won 151 Assembly seats in 2019 but was reduced to 11 in the 2024 elections. He asked the cadre to explain the ruling alliance’s policies and government performance to voters.

He also directed party workers to focus on booth-level mobilisation, encourage voter participation and aim for a higher vote share than the alliance secured in the 2024 Assembly elections.

The instructions come amid disagreements over seat-sharing and rebel nominations in several constituencies. Chandrababu reiterated that coordination among the three alliance partners would remain central to the TDP’s local election strategy.
