An H-1B renewal case at the US consulate in Hyderabad has reportedly turned into a long delay despite approval. The applicant has been waiting for over 37 days after the visa status showed “Approved” on April 14, 2026.
According to the applicant, the H-1B renewal interview took place on April 14. During the process, the visa officer issued a Form 221(g) slip requesting additional details related to social media accounts.
The applicant stated that all required information was submitted on the same day via email. The officer had also collected a separate document listing social media profile URLs during the interview itself.
Despite this, the visa status has not moved to “Issued” and remains unchanged. The “Last Updated” date on the CEAC system has also stayed the same since April 14, raising concerns about the delay.
Legal experts believe the case may be under extended administrative processing. This could involve enhanced security checks, including social media screening and National Vetting Center reviews, which have become more common in recent months.
The applicant reportedly contacted the consulate multiple times and raised support tickets. However, only standard responses related to administrative processing were received, offering no clear timeline.
The worker’s company immigration team has also not received any request for further documents. This lack of communication has added to the uncertainty surrounding the case.
Such delays under current visa policies are creating stress for applicants. With no clear timelines, prolonged processing periods are putting careers and travel plans at risk.
