Indian Driver Caught with $8.7 Million Cocaine

An Indian truck driver residing in Canada, Gagandeep Singh, faces charges for attempting to distribute drugs after being caught transporting roughly $8.7 million (72 cr approximately) worth of cocaine into the US.

Singh was apprehended by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Windsor-Detroit border crossing.

A border canine detected the suspected cocaine from 13 cardboard boxes sealed with duct tape in the trailer during an inspection at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit on February 5.

Despite Singh’s attempts to evade inspection, CBP officers stopped him just before reaching the tolls.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) estimated the cocaine, weighing 290 kilograms, to be worth approximately $8,700,000.

The investigation revealed that the seal on the trailer belonged to a Canadian health and beauty care company.

Court documents suggest the seizure is linked to significant drug distribution activities. Singh made his first court appearance in Detroit on February 7.
