Mainank Patel, a 36-year-old Indian-origin man, was fatally shot during a robbery at his convenience store, Tobacco House, on Airport Road in North Carolina. The incident occurred on Tuesday when Patel was found with multiple gunshot wounds and later died at a local hospital.
Surveillance footage revealed a young male suspect, dressed in black shorts, a hoodie, and a ski mask, fleeing the scene. The suspect, now in custody, was identified as a juvenile.
Mainank Patel leaves behind his pregnant wife, Ami, who is seven months along, and their 5-year-old daughter.
In response to this devastating loss, a fundraising campaign has been launched to support his family. The campaign seeks to raise $500,000 to cover funeral expenses, and medical costs, and provide ongoing support for Patel’s family.
The fundraiser’s organizer described Patel as a man of warmth and kindness, cherished by all who knew him. The campaign aims to ease the financial burden on Patel’s family and help them navigate this difficult period.
With Ami now the sole breadwinner, the funds will assist with mortgage payments, childcare, and other essential expenses.
