When in power, Donald Trump often spoke about the Indian-Americans and their contribution to the USA. Now his future lies in the hands of an Indian origin judge who’s going to preside over his case in the federal courthouse.

Moxila Upadhyaya, the former co-chair of the DC Bar Litigation Section Steering Committee, has presided over the initial appearance of former President Donald Trump who is being charged with trying to stay in power even after losing election in 2020. Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty in the initial proceeding when he appeared at the courthouse which is located just a few blocks away from the Capitol. His case would be presided by the Indian origin judge who has also handled the proceedings for many other defendants of the January 6 incident. The former president is planning to contest the 2024 elections as a Republican candidate and therefore it is important for him to walk free from the case.

Moxila Upadhyaya was born in Gujarat and was raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She got her law degree from the American University Washington College of Law.
