It Is a well established fact that people from Indian Origin have a higher inclination towards science. Huge number of people working in sciences in the USA belong to the Indian community. Even huge establishments like NASA have a high majority of scientists having roots in India. Every year more and more people from STEM migrate to the USA in search of a better opportunity. Their hard work doesn’t go unrewarded there; they often receive accolades for their achievements. Two Indian Origin scientists in the USA have been honored with the National Medal of Technology and Innovation and the National Medal of Science respectively.
The Biden administration presented this honor to Ashok Gadgil and Subra Suresh respectively. The Recipients received these awards from Joe Biden at the White House. It is an important achievement as the National Medal of Science is the highest scientific honor given to anyone in the United States. It was established by the US Congress in 1959 and is administered by the US National Science Foundation.
The recipients of these awards are people who have done exemplary work in the field of biology, computer science, education science, engineering, geosciences, mathematics and physical sciences, and social, behavioral and economic sciences. Ashok and Subra have added to the honor of the Indian community living in the US.
