The Cessna 152 departed from Laoag City in the northern province of Ilocos Norte on Tuesday around noon. However, it did not arrive in Tuguegarao City in Cagayan province as scheduled, three hours later.
Now, the search process is being hindered by bad weather, causing extreme difficulties. The whole mission is being conducted by the Philippine Air Force, Army troops, and other government personnel. Multiple attempts have been made with helicopters (both guard and private), but they were all in vain.
An agency spokesperson later clarified that the plane received clearance to take off from Laoag, where the weather cleared after a typhoon passed through the mountainous northern region last week.
The last known position of the plane was northwest of Cagayan province’s Alcala town. The authorities are trying to conduct searches in that region, and as soon as the weather gives a green light, further searches will be made.
