Indian Tech Guru’s Game-Changing Role in US

After defeating an Indian-American woman in the elections, Donald Trump is reportedly relying on another Indian to oversee major defense operations and research in his cabinet.

Shyam Sankar, the Mumbai-born technologist from Orlando, is being considered for chief research and engineering in US defense technology as per media reports. This role comes with immense responsibility, overseeing operations in the Pentagon.

An alumnus of Cornell and Stanford, Sankar will bring more than 20 years of experience in software solutions and AI. He is currently a Chief Technology Officer at Palantir Technologies and is also leading biotech innovation at Ginkgo Bioworks.

Notably, the Indian-American technologist made waves for his critique of outdated methods in the US defense system. He gave out cost-cutting measures to the government which led many to believe that he could revolutionize the defense projects if he got the role.

In 2024, Sankar was recognized as one of the “Top 7 People in Defense Tech,” making him a reliable person to assume this role.

Trump’s baseless attacks against immigrant communities during his election campaign put him under fire. These appointments in his cabinet will also help him clear his public image.
