Iran Hits Dubai Airport Fuel Tank: Major Flights Cancelled

Iranian strikes have reportedly hit a fuel tank near Terminal 3 at Dubai Airport, causing a massive fire. The Dubai Media Office confirmed that the incident occurred near one of the busiest aviation hubs in the Middle East.

Civil defence teams quickly responded to the situation and managed to contain the fire. Authorities reported that no injuries were recorded during the incident. The strike has raised concerns about security around major international travel hubs.

Dubai Airport is considered one of the busiest airports in the region. Because of its importance for global travel and cargo operations, the incident has drawn worldwide attention. Airlines have started reviewing their flight operations in response.

Several international airlines have already suspended flights to the region. British Airways, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines have announced cancellations or restrictions. The decisions were taken as a precaution following the strike.

British Airways cancelled flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Amman, Bahrain, Doha and Tel Aviv. Some airlines have limited their restrictions only to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Others are monitoring the situation before making further decisions.

Current restrictions are expected to remain in place until mid March. However, airlines have also introduced rolling extensions for their decisions. This means flight operations could remain uncertain if the regional situation does not stabilise.

Industry experts say that rising costs are also affecting airline decisions. War time insurance for commercial aircraft has reportedly surged between 300 percent and 1000 percent. The increase followed the US Israel strikes against Iran which escalated tensions.

Dubai’s economy could face challenges because the city relies heavily on tourism and international connectivity. Any prolonged disruption in flights may affect travel and business activity. Analysts are closely watching how the situation develops.

US President Donald Trump has been blamed by some commentators for the broader economic impact of the conflict. The political situation surrounding the crisis continues to attract global attention.

Meanwhile, some airlines including Emirates are continuing limited services. However, aviation experts say the situation remains uncertain. Recent reports also mention repeated drone strikes targeting the United Arab Emirates in recent times.
