Kamala Vs Trump: Who Do Telugu Voters Prefer?

As the Indian American voter base grows stronger in the US, the Telugu community is playing an influential role in the elections. But which presidential candidate are they supporting?

The opinions are divided amongst the community. While the majority of male voters are supporting Donald Trump, giving him a slight edge, Kamala Harris is the favorite among the women.

According to media surveys, most Telugu-speaking people, who are in the IT industry or running their own businesses, are not content with the last four years of Biden. Hence, Trump has emerged as a favorite and his economic policies are the winds of change they might need at the moment.

On the other hand, women voters from the community are more aligned with Kamala Harris’ vision and want reproductive rights which are under threat with Trump in power. A woman of Indian origin sitting at the White House also works as an inspiration for them.

Due to their busy work schedules, many Indians have already voted, opting for early ballots and drop box options. They believe it is more peaceful than standing in queues for hours on election day.

Indian-Americans are the second largest immigrant community in the US with 2.5 million eligible votes. Hence, they have the power to change the course of this year’s unpredictable elections.
