Applicants trying to pay for US visas and even citizenship are getting stuck, thanks to a bizarre USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) website error that refuses to go away.
An H-1B applicant shared the incomprehensible message that read, “Liquid error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.” And he is not the only one stumped by this.
From F-1 students to green card holders applying for naturalization, people across the board are running into this same issue. The moment they try to pay or move to the next step, the site crashes.
Different browsers, different devices, nothing seems to help. And USCIS support has only one thing to say, “try again later.”
One user came as a saviour for many suggesting to hit Ctrl+Shift+R (or Command+Shift+R on Mac) multiple times to force a “hard refresh.” The “hack” actually worked and they completed payment.
However, the relief was short-lived. Because when they tried to view consular slots, the same error popped up again.
So, technically speaking, the workaround works, but the site is still broken.
