Mass Deportation in US: Telugus Under Threat

Donald Trump’s promise to crack down on illegal immigrants has put thousands of Indians in danger of getting deported.

The 2019 “public charge” rule added to fears by making it harder to get green cards if they used certain public benefits. However, Joe Biden’s approach was to remove individuals with serious criminal offenses rather than overstays or other minor discrepancies.

However, Trump’s restrictive policies on H-1B visas during his first term added significant stress for Indian workers, particularly during delays with renewals. Despite India being a major contributor to the US workforce these strict policies are working against the community.

Indian asylum seekers are also facing challenges. People who fled from political or religious violence are being detained for long periods in US facilities as proving their claims has become increasingly difficult.
