Saree March In London! Indian People Celebrated

National Handloom Day celebrations were observed on the streets of central London, where women adorned sarees from different states of India.

This Walkathon was coordinated by British women in sarees, leading a march from Trafalgar Square to the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Parliament Square. Around 500 women from states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and Delhi participated in traditional attire. Chants of patriotic slogans along the route attracted tourists and onlookers. They celebrated the march with garba, dandiya, and Bollywood beats, with passersby also joining their celebrations.

The ambassadors of this movement shared their gratitude for achieving recognition in the spotlight for the artists and weavers. They were delighted to see women adorned in the wearable art of these artists and weavers, sparking curiosity among everyone to learn more about them.

National Handloom Day serves as a heartfelt tribute to the skilled weavers and the handloom-weaving community of India, celebrating their invaluable contributions to the country’s development.
