Stunning: Over 8,000 Indian Prisoners Trapped Abroad!

8,343 Indian citizens, including those who are awaiting trial, are now being held in jails throughout the globe, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Mr. V Muraleedharan, Minister of State in the MEA, said this in the Lok Sabha, “The safety, security, and well-being of Indians living abroad, especially those who are detained abroad, are of the highest significance to the government.”

In response to a question, Mr. Muraleedharan gave details on the distribution of Indian prisoners in overseas detention facilities. The country with the most Indian detainees is the United Arab Emirates (UAE), followed by Saudi Arabia (1,362) and Nepal (1,222).

The Ministry’s data on detained Indians, including those who are awaiting trial, according to Mr. Muraleedharan, and it is this information that has led to the alleged total of 8,343 inmates. He also emphasized the fact that India has TSP agreements in place with 31 countries, highlighting the government’s dedication to addressing the welfare and legal rights of Indian prisoners held abroad.
