For the last 24 hours, the assassination attempt on Donald Trump has been the biggest news and everyone has nothing else to talk about. But when we are addressing it as a failed assassination attempt, we are undermining the cost it has already incurred on innocent lives. It was not just Trump who was shot at the rally. While he got slightly injured, someone lost their life.
One person was killed and two others were injured during this shooting. However, it is unlikely that the shooting will be remembered for their misfortune. This shooting didn’t have the sole intention of killing Trump. Others were shot and it is an attack on the public as well.
This brings attention back to the whole debate of guns in America. No matter what you believe, you can’t ignore the fact that it is always the innocent who have suffered while the law makers only argue what should be done.
There are many questions raised on the security arrangements for the rally. One video shows a secret service officer who looks panicked and people on social media felt she wasn’t fit for the job. But we’re forgetting that at the end it was an innocent civilian who was killed and America once again failed to do anything about their security.
