US Passenger Ignored for Weeks, Lufthansa Sued

A frustrated US traveler has taken Lufthansa to small claims court, accusing the airline of wrecking his vacation and then ignoring him for weeks.

According to the person’s social media post, Lufthansa canceled not one or two, but three of his flights. The first two were called off due to “safety concerns,” and the third for reasons he says were never explained.

As a result, what was meant to be an 8-day trip got reduced to just 3 days. So he had no choice but to cancel the entire plan, including a friend’s wedding.

He allegedly tried for weeks to get a refund but says he was met with silence and automated responses. Only after filing a small claims case did Lufthansa reportedly respond with a settlement offer of $1,115.

But the traveler is suing the US airlines for nearly $5,000. That includes the money he lost on bookings, time off work, and the stress of dealing with the airline.

While he admits that some of his claims, like compensation for distress, might not stand up legally, he says he’s suing out of principle. “I’m tired of corporations making things so hard that people give up,” he wrote.

Netizens point out that small claims courts rarely award damages for emotional distress unless tied to physical harm. Still, many support his stand for holding companies accountable when they go silent after ruining trips.
