An issue with the US visa scheduling portal has left an Indian J-1 visa applicant extremely worried. The student claimed that despite completing all required steps, they are still unable to secure a visa appointment as their program start date gets closer.
According to the applicant, the DS-160 form was completed and the MRV fee was also paid successfully. Since April, the student has been regularly checking the portal for available slots. However, every attempt to book an appointment has reportedly failed.
The applicant said appointment dates occasionally appeared on the portal, including slots in Hyderabad for late June. But whenever the student tried to confirm the booking, the portal either refreshed automatically or displayed an error message instead.
The user further claimed that the portal sometimes blocks the booking process completely. Similar complaints have also been shared by several other visa applicants online. Many users continue to report technical problems while trying to secure interview appointments.
The student also faced login and authentication issues earlier while accessing the portal. Although those technical problems were eventually resolved, the appointment booking issue reportedly continued for almost two months without any proper solution.
More recently, the portal allegedly started showing messages like “rate limited” and “temporarily blocked.” This has increased anxiety for the applicant because the J-1 exchange visitor program is scheduled to begin on August 18.
With time running out, the student now fears possible delays to travel and program participation. The repeated technical issues have once again raised concerns about the reliability of the US visa scheduling system for Indian applicants.
